Our
favorite among all Vuarnet sunglasses styles, quite rare and early
Vuarnet 019 metal frame vintage sunglasses are very different than
the sometimes repetitive Vuarnet Wayfarer look designs and, in our
view, much more interesting. There are a number of subtle design
elements on these vintage Vuarnets, particularly the wide, banded
frame that holds each lens and the unique narrowing of the ear stem
at the hinge point only to expand thereafter and continue down to
the ear pad. These design elements really stand out, and the silver
looks great with the Vuarnet Pouilloux PX 2000 lens. In that regard,
these Pouilloux lens appear amber from the front that darkens in
sunlight but pick up hues of blue when seen from behind. This is
exactly the opposite of what you find with other high quality glass
lens such as Revo. Not only did everyone here at the Vintage Sunglasses
Shop love these vintage Vuarnet sunglasses, but nobody had ever
seen a pair like this either. Roger Pouilloux and Jean Vuarnet created
the first Vuarnet sunglasses in 1961, with optical quality lens
offering unprecedented protection from the sun in leisure-oriented
sports and adventure activities such as skiing. The Vuarnet logo
and stylized P for Pouilloux are on the outside of each ear stem
inscribed in the metal, and the inside of one ear stem is marked
Pouilloux France CE and the other is marked 019 48 [] 22 140 all
inscribed in the metal frame. The nose pads are also original and
are marked with the stylized P. Very rare and a great look for men

Vuarnet PX Cat Eye sunglasses have the top color combination of
Vuarnet blue frame with black gradient skilynx lenses for a look
that just can't be beat regardless of light conditions. The Vuarnet
gradient lens are one of the best, and we are partial here at the
Vintage Sunglasses Shop to the highly reflective black and silver
gradient skilynx lenses that are so perfectly complemented here
in the blue frame. The skilynx lens, worn in 1960 by world champion
and Olympic medal winner Jean Vuarnet, is renowned worldwide for
allowing the wearer to look at the sun without being dazzled and
to improve light levels in misty weather. Vuarnet also recognized
that blue light is responsible for the dazzling effects of strong
sunlight and can lead to errors in visual perception and jugement.
As such, the interior of the lens also has an anti-reflective coating
which eliminates annoying reflections off the concave side of the
lens. Vuarnet cat's eye sunglasses and lens are popular for a variety
of outdoor sports and activities including of course skiing, the
sport where Vuarnet first made its name and where it still enjoys
a stellar reputation. These early Vuarnet PX cat's eye sunglasses
are c 1980's and are extremely hard to find. The blue frame is marked
on the exterior of one ear stem PX in the circle (for Vuarnet maker
Sporoptic Pouilloux) and the exterior of the other Vuarnet PX. The
blue nylon frame is incredibly durable (and marked Nylon on the
inside of one ear stem), and these early Vuarnet PX cat eye sunglasses
were designed with extremes in mind so we typically find them in
better condition than many other sunglasses of this age. The frame
measures approximately 5.25" temple to temple, and each lens
measures a nice 2.25" x 1.875" at the widest points to
fully protect the eye. In addition to the external marks, the inside
of one ear stem is marked France Brevete S.G.D.G.

If
you prefer a unique copper Vuarnet PX Cat Eye, check out these brown
Vuarnet PX cat's eye sunglasses with black and silver gradient skilynx
lenses as a perfect complement. There are several unique things
about these early Vuarnet PX Pouilloux sunglasses - the copper color,
the ridges above the lens and the nose bridge not usually seen on
Vuarnets, and the raised PX logos on each ear stem along with the
Vuarnet star. When the cool frame is combined with the Vuarnet skilynx
lenses, you have a really wonderful and unique pair of vintage sunglasses.
As with all Vuarnet skilynx lenses, the gradient front goes through
a transition from the top to the bottom, but when examined from
behind the patented Vuarnet blue blocker coating is on the lens
to provide some of the best UV protection in the world. And of course
these Vuarnet skilynx like most every model in the Vuarnet line
is perfect for skiing as ski sunglasses and look much cooler than
goggles. It's a good unisex size with frame measuring approximately
5.25" temple to temple and lenses measuring approximately 2.25"
x 1.875 at the widest points. One ear stem is marked PX in raised
letters and the Vuarnet star logo, and the other stem is marked
PX Vuarnet. The inside of one stem is marked France, and both lenses
have the underlined and stylized Vuarnet V in the top center of

Rare
and perhaps the single best pair of sunglasses ever produced by
Vuarnet, these Vuarnet 24k gold plated sunglasses were produced
for the 1984 Olympics and feature Vuarnet Pouilloux Skilynx lenses.
It's a unique interpretation, sort of a modern update on an aviator
design but with flat silver lower nose bridge and traditional gold
nose bridge above, and the front of the silver bridge is impressed
with the Vuarnet Pouilloux star above the 1984 Olympic rings. We
really like the use of the silver highlight for the lower nose bridge,
an eye catching contrast with the remainder of the gold frame and
Skilynx lenses. Behind the lower nose bridge which is gold and not
silver in the back, you will find Vuarnet Plaque Of 24 CT impressed
in the metal. Each Skilynx gradient lens was designed for alpine
use and measures approximately 2.25" x 1.875" at the widest
points, and both have the laser etched underlined Vuarnet V at the
top center of the glass lenses. These make great men's and women's
sunglasses, with a moderately sized 24k gold plated frame that measures
approximately 5.25" temple to temple. Prized by Olympic collectors
and sunglasses afficianados alike, these Vuarnet 1984 Olympics commemorative
24k gold plated Skilynx sunglasses were part of a major New York
City estate with its fine vintage eyewear sold exclusively through
the Vintage Sunglasses Shop. Includes original maroon Vuarnet Pouilloux
Paris Skilynx Acier suede case.

Authentic Vuarnet
Pouilloux Skilynx 438-267 sunglasses with the PX4000 Skilynx amber-yellow
base lenses with brown and anti-reflective interiors coatings and
double gradient silver exterior filters. Vintage Vuarnet Skilynx
lenses are known for their unique ability to eliminate glare and
reflection while enhancing contrast and depth of field to provide
unsurpassed performance in the mountains or at sea. The sleek Vuarnet
438 267 frame is hand made in France, black with gold rims and soft
nose pads in a style reminiscent of Ray-Ban Clubmaster sunglasses
but with a unique French style. The unisex frame is a perfect size
for men and women measuring approximately 5.375" temple to
temple, and the Vuarnet Skilynx lenses measure approximately 2.0"
x 1.75" at the widest point and have the laser etched Vuarnet
"V on a Ski" at the top of each lens. Vuarnet 438 sunglasses are
a rare style and one of the most expensive ever produced by Vuarnet,
and we love the moderately angled lower portions of each lens that
don't have any ready parallel in any other brand of vintage sunglasses.
The exterior of one ear stem is marked Vuarnet while the other is
marked PX (Pouilloux) all in gold, a great contrast with the glass
black frame. The inside of one ear stem is marked Pouilloux V.O.
438-267 Hand Made in France while the inside of the other stem is
marked 54 [] 16. These Vuarnet Skilynx sunglasses also retain the
original celluloid nose pads which are both marked with the PX Pouilloux
symbol which is the same as that on the outside of the right ear
stem. Vuarnet Skilynx lenses with double gradient silver mirror
finish are one of the finest optical lenses ever produced and still
the standard by which others are measured, and these vintage Vuarnet
Pouilloux 438 sunglasses are a stylish and eye catching style to
really make them shine.

Vuarnet 5003
PX Pouilloux Skilynx sunglasses combine a rich brown aviator style
frame with the amazing Vuarnet Skilynx gradient mirrored lenses
for a unique statement in vintage sunglasses. Vuarnet Skilynx lenses
are gradient mirror lenses, changing from silver to black but always
highly reflective mirrored lenses which reflect rather than absorb
glare. Glare reduction is particularly important to ski eyewear
and goggles, for harmful UV rays reflect off the snow to challenge
vision, and yet traditional polarized sunglass lenses were poorly
suited to depth perception and being able to see moguls on the ski
slopes. Vuarnet Skilynx lenses met the challenge, and these Vuarnet
5003 sunglasses are a classic of the design. These look great on
men or women offering a moderately oversized sunglasses look with
frame measuring approximately 5.5" temple to temple and lenses
measuring 2.25" x 1.75" at the widest points. The exterior
of one ear stem is marked PX Vuarnet while the other has only PX
(Pouilloux), and the inside of one stem is marked with the Vuarnet
crown mark and Nylon while the inside of the other stem is marked
5003 France Depose along with the crown mark. Both of the mirrored
Vuarnet Skilynx lenses are laser etched with the "V on a Ski"
mark at the top center of the lens.

widest points and have a very subtle wrap design to contour more
closely to your face to keep out wind, rain, and glare. The exterior
