Ray-Ban Diamond Hard Arista Black General 62mm Aviator Sunglasses
Vintage Ray-Ban Diamond Hard 62mm aviator sunglasses feature an Arista gold frame and the black "General" brow bar originally designed to improve the sunglasses on the face and named after General Douglas MacArthur who wore this style of sunglasses - without the later Diamond Hard lenses of course - during his Philippines campaign in World War II. Ray-Ban Diamond Hard lens was a Bausch & Lomb scratch-protection system which created a lens surface of amorphous diamond that is 10x more resistant to scratching than ordinary glass. This surface also sheds water, reducing water spotting and making the lens easier to clean. The diamond surface is permanently bonded to the lens via an ion beam process originally developed by NASA for the US space program. The ear stems on these black Generals are the thick groove gold plated stems made by either Bausch & Lomb or American Optical, and they're much thicker and stronger than normal Ray-Ban aviator wire stems. The unisex Ray-Ban 62mm General frame measures approximately 5.75" temple to temple, and the 62mm gold mirror Diamond Hard lenses measure approximately 2.5" x 2.0" at the widest points with both lenses laser etched BL near the hinges and left lens laser etched with Ray-Ban and the diamond trademark. You'll find the Ray-Ban logo etched in the gold on the exterior of both ear stems, and the top of the nose bridge is impressed B&L Ray-Ban wihle the bottom of the bridge is impressed B&L Ray-Ban 62 [] 14.
