Men
have more limited fashion alternatives to
make an individual style statement than do
women. While there are certainly possibilities
in clothes and shoes, the most common choice
of celebrities and growing numbers of men
of all shapes, sizes, and professions is a
great pair of cool vintage sunglasses. Well
styled, high quality sunglasses can be distinctive
to individual personalities and be an eye
catching fashion accessory sure to attract
questions and compliments. While those of
us that work at the Vintage Sunglasses Shop
are admittedly sunglasses nuts, we believe
men shouldn't have only 1 pair of sunglasses
but rather a sunglasses collection. Different
styles, shapes, and colors of rare and authentic
vintage sunglasses can supplement your look
at formal or informal occasions, in summer
or winter seasons, out shopping or at the
office, and in a flashy or understated way
depending on your mood.
While
there are no universal rules, the shape of
your face is important when selecting the
right sunglasses. Men with more square faces
should generally choose sunglasses that are
more rounded and not wider than your face.
For really top of the line examples of the
rounded look, check out vintage Revo 962 sunglasses
with different colors of highly reflective
Revo mirrored lenses. While they weren't cheap
new and still aren't cheap today 30 years
later, rare styles such as Revo
962/001 sunglasses with blue mirrored
lens and tortoise shell ear stems can become
one of your prized possessions for many years
to come. Men with a more rounded face shape
should generally choose sunglasses that are
more angular at the corners to add definition
to the face. Often, rectangular sunglasses
such as the Revo
1107 sunglasses with etched gunmetal frame
and stealth mirrored lens will look great
on women with rounder faces. Men whose face
shape is more oval than round have the most
flexibility to choose most any sunglass style
they like. If your face shape is more triangular,
you will want to consider sunglasses that
add width above the cheekbones to create a
balancing effect such as super cool Revo
970 sunglasses or vintage original Ray-Ban
Wayfarer sunglasses in a variety of colors.
Styling
can be classic like vintage aviator sunglasses.
If you're a traditionalist, you can find a
variety of authentic B&L Ray-Ban aviator
and shooter sunglasses throughout our inventory
of vintage
Ray-Ban sunglasses, but other brands also
did interesting variations of aviator style
sunglasses over the years such as the unique
interpretation of classic aviators evident
in Revo
990 and Revo
1109 sunglasses. Oversized large sunglasses
are popular today with both men and women,
but we don't particularly care for modern
designer logo driven styles like Chanel and
Versace but rather prefer the cleaner look
of vintage Carrera
Porsche Design or Alpina
sunglasses such as Carrera 5621 and 5623 sunglasses
with interchangeable lens, Carrera 5622 folding
sunglasses, and the famous Alpina M1 and M3
styles from the 1980s and early 1990s. If
you want a little WOW factor, you can't go
wrong with vintage Persol or Cazal sunglasses
such as striking Cazal
958 sunglasses.
