Vintage Ray-Ban bullet hole shooter sunglasses are an icon of modern sunglasses design, full of innovation including the center ring "bullet hole", the "General" brow bar, shooter or "outdoorsman" ear stems for the most secure fit possible, and of course the famous Bausch & Lomb Tru Green lenses. To produce these frames, gold was permanently bonded to premium grade steel which was specially alloyed for both strength and malleability. The bullet hole and the brow bar were both designed to improve balance on the face for hunters and shooters, an innovation that's stood the test of time and continued to be seen on many Ray-Ban sunglasses of the 1970s - 1990s. The unisex Ray-Ban 12k GF frame measures approximately 5.5" temple to temple, and the 62mm Tru-Green lenses measure approximately 2.5" a 2.0" at the widest points. The top of the nose bridge is impressed B&L 1/10 12k GF or Ray-Ban B&L 1/10 12k GF depending on the exact year of production which meant that 1/10 of the metal in the frame - all in the exterior gold plating - was 12k gold.
