Ray-Ban 10k GF Bullet Hole Shooter Sunglasses
Vintage Ray-Ban 10k GF bullet hole shooters feature the smallest of the 3 original bullet hole sizes in the early high end 10k gold filled Outdoorsman frame in which Bausch & Lomb impressed the percentage of metal in the frame which was pure 10k gold and of course all on the exterior plating. These are the earliest bullet hole shooter production as evidenced by the smallest "bullet hole" at the nose bridge, slightly enlarged twice in later years and a must have early first edition bullet hole shooter for serious collectors. The bullet hole style was originally marketed to hunters and shooters and is full of innovation including the center ring bullet hole and "General" brow bar both designed to improve balance on the face for hunters and shooters, shooter ear stems for the most secure fit possible, and of course iconic Bausch & Lomb G-15 anti-glare lenses. The 10k gold plating is permanently bonded to premium grade steel underneath which was specially alloyed for both strength and malleability. The Bausch & Lomb mineral glass lenses from this period are known for their ability to transmit all colors equally so they retain their true values and attain 85% visible light absorption and 100% UV protection. The lenses measure approximately 2.25" x 2.0" at the widest points, and the unisex Ray-Ban 10k GF bullet hole shooter frame measures approximately 5.25" temple to temple. The top of the nose bridge is impressed Ray-Ban B& L 1/20 10K GF or B&L Ray-Ban 10k GF depending on the specific year of 1960s production, part of the collection of a well known movie and TV industry figure and long time customer of the Vintage Sunglasses Shop.
