Vuarnet 084 Skilynx Red Sunglasses
1 Vintage Vuarnet 084 Skilynx sunglasses (the 4 prefix was added c 1993 to indicate the PX-4000 Skilynx lens) feature a durable and distinctive red nylon frame that's got plenty of unique curves and angles for extra design flair. While vintage Vuarnet 084 sunglasses were made in many colors over the years, red Vuarnet 084 sunglasses were produced in only small quantities and thus is quite a bit harder to find than royal blue, black, and brown hues. The center insert of these Vuarnet 084 sunglasses has the Vuarnet trademark on it, and it's removable to give you an open nose bridge if you prefer and two very distinct looks. Vuarnet PX-4000 Skilynx lenses are an amber-yellow base glass lens with anti-reflective interior coatings and double gradient mirror silver exterior filters. This legendary Vuarnet lens eliminates glare and reflection, enhances contrast and depth of field, and is recognized as the essential lens for in the mountains and at sea. The unisex Vuarnet 084 frame measures approximately 5.375" temple to temple, and the Vuarnet Skilynx PX-4000 lenses measure approximately 2.125" x 1.75" at the widest points with both lenses laser etched with the trademark Vuarnet "V on a Ski" at the top center. You'll find the PX logo embossed on the exterior of one ear stem and PX Vuarnet embossed on the other, and the inside of one stem is impressed France along with the French crown trademark and the other stem is impressed Pouilloux and on some production marked 084 or 4084 (the 4 prefix was added c 1993 to indicate the PX-4000 Skilynx lens).

This rare Olympic collectible was produced c 1983-1984 to commemorate Vuarnet's sponsorship of the 1984 Olympic Games, identical in size, shape, and appearance except that the repeating star symbol of the 1984 Los angeles Olympics accompanies the PX mark on the exterior of one ear stem and the repeating star symbol and the Olympic rings replace the Vuarnet logo on the removable center nose insert. Rare.
