Ray-Ban Ambermatic General Bullet Hole Sunglasses
1 Vintage B&L Ray-Ban Ambermatic sunglasses are very hard to find, and the hardest of all to find are the early B&L Ray-Ban Ambermatic bullet hole sunglasses. B&L Ray-Ban bullet hole sunglasses were originally popular with the hunting and shooting crowd because of how the "bullet hole" added balance to the glasses resting on the face, but today they are desirable as much because they look cool and distinctive as they are for hunting or shooting. The Bausch & Lomb Ambermatic lens has photochromatic properties that change density depending on the degree of both brightness and temperature. Taking its name from the color of the lens, Ray-Ban Ambermatic sunglasses change from amber yellow to gray and darker and denser in bright light conditions and in colder temperatures. These early B&L Ray-Ban bullet hole Ambermatic sunglasses also feature the pearlized General bar for added design flair and balance on top of the nose bridge. The top of the nose bridge of the Arista gold plated frame is marked B&L Ray-Ban USA impressed in the metal. The frame is a good unisex size at approximately 5.25" temple to temple with the Ray-Ban 62mm Ambermatic lenses measuring approximately 2.375" x 2.0" at the widest point. The right lens is laser etched Ray-Ban, and both lenses are laser etched BL near the hinges. Rare.

One of the rarities of this period are these 58mm bullet hole sunglaases in contrast to all other bullet hole styles which used only 62mm B&L lenses.
