1 Vintage B&L Ray-Ban 12k GF gold filled bullet hole Kalichrome C Decot shooters are the alternative and less widely produced elongated lens shape in the vintage Kalichrome line popular with hunters and shooters the world over. While all vintage B&L Ray-Ban Kalichrome sunglasses are rare, the elongated oval lens shape was produced in smaller numbers than the more traditional aviator and is especially popular with women. It's a great look, with round "bullet hole" design between the lenses that was designed to create better balance for the sunglasses on the face for hunters and shooters. Bausch & Lomb developed this shooters with well known sportsman Bud Decot in the 1950s, and they are still the benchmark shooting sunglasses for skeet and trap shooters worldwide. Its unique high-riding design ensures a virtually uninterrupted field of view and superb coverage for sport and bird shooters, who typically need a high-riding glass when aiming a shotgun. The Kalichrome C yellow lenses are an amazing innovation of Bausch & Lomb, enhancing visual acuity in all light conditions but especially lower light, more hazy conditions. These Ray-Ban Kalichrome sunglasses also feature the pearlized General bar and curved wire outdoorsman shooter ear stems for a secure fit. The frame measures approximately 5.35" temple to temple with Ray-Ban Kalichrome yellow lenses that measure approximately 2.375" x 1.75" at the widest points. The top of the nose bridge is marked Ray-Ban B&L 1/10 12k GF impressed in the metal, indicating that 1/10 of the metal in the frame is 12k gold. Gold filled is a misnomer; like the Kalichrome Decot shooters below marked as 10k GO (Gold Overlay), all of the 12k gold in these slightly later Kaliichrome bullet hole shooters is of course on the exterior plating. Rare, c mid 1960s - early 1970s.
