Ray-Ban Ambermatic 58mm Aviator Sunglasses

1 Vintage Ray-Ban Ambermatic aviator sunglasses c mid 1980s - late 1990s were one of the most significant innovations in optical lens technology ever created, and even today there are no equals in how vintage Ray-Ban Ambermatic lenses change properties to provide optimal eye protection in a variety of light conditions. The B&L Ray-Ban Ambermatic lens has photochromatic properties that change density depending on the degree of both brightness and temperature, properties infused into the glass and not a coating that will wear out or wear off over time. Taking its name from the color of the lens, Ray-Ban Ambermatic sunglasses change from amber yellow to gray and darker and denser in bright light conditions and in colder temperatures. The unisex Ray-Ban 58mm aviator frame measures approximately 5.25" temple to temple with 58mm Ambermatic mineral glass lenses measuring approximately 2.25" x 1.875" at the widest points with right lens laser etched Ray-Ban and both lenses laser etched BL near the hinges. The top of the nose bridge is impressed B&L Ray-Ban USA while the bottom of the bridge is impressed B&L Ray-Ban 58 [] 14 and on some production one ear pad is impressed L9535 OVAS, part of the collection of a well known US sports figure and long time customer of the Vintage Sunglasses Shop.
