Vuarnet 002 Skilynx Black Sunglasses

1 Vintage Vuarnet 002 sunglasses feature the sleek and elegant color combination of a Vuarnet black nylon frame with PX-4000 Skilynx double gradient mirror lenses for a look and optical quality that's tough to beat regardless of light conditions. Vuarnet Skilynx lenses feature hues of silver and black, nicely complemented here in the black Vuarnet frame. The Vuarnet Skilynx lens, worn in 1960 by world champion and Olympic medal winner Jean Vuarnet, is renowned worldwide for allowing the wearer to look at the sun without being dazzled and to improve light levels in hazy or misty weather. Vuarnet also recognized that blue light is responsible for the dazzling effects of strong sunlight and can lead to errors in visual perception and judgement. As such, the interior of the lens also has an anti-reflective blue coating which eliminates annoying reflections off the concave side of the lens. The unisex Vuarnet 002 French nylon frame measures approximately 5.25" temple to temple and is marked on the exterior of one ear stem with the Vuarnet PX logo and Vuarnet while the exterior of the other stem is marked PX. The PX-4000 Skilynx lenses measure approximately 2.25" x 1.875" at the widest points with both lenses laser etched with the trademark Vuarnet "V on a Ski". The inside of one ear stem is impressed France with the French crown trademark while the inside of the other stem is impressed Pouilloux and on some production marked 002 or 4002.

1A In another variation of iconic Vuarnet 002 Skilynx sunglasses, Vuarnet added the repeating star symbol of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics of which Vuarnet was a sponsor to the exterior of one ear stem joining the PX logo on one side. Very hard to find and sought after by Olympic games collectors, these Vuarnet 002 Olympic commemorative sunglasses are otherwise identical in size, shape, and appearance.
