The Vuarnet Skilynx lens, worn in 1960 by world champion and Olympic medal winner Jean Vuarnet, is renowned worldwide for allowing the wearer to look at the sun without being dazzled and to improve light levels in hazy or misty weather. Vuarnet also recognized that blue light is responsible for the dazzling effects of strong sunlight and can lead to errors in visual perception and jugement. As such, the interior of the lens also has an anti-reflective blue coating which eliminates annoying reflections off the concave side of the lens. The frame is marked on the exterior of one ear stem with the PX logo (for Vuarnet maker Sporoptic Pouilloux) and Vuarnet while the exterior of the other stem is marked PX. The French nylon frame is incredibly durable (and marked Nylon on the inside of one ear stem) and measures approximately 5.25" temple to temple, and each lens measures approximately 2.25" x 1.875" at the widest points to fully protect the eye. In addition to the external marks, both lenses are laser etched with the trademark Vuarnet "V on a Ski", and the inside of one ear stem is marked France with a crown mark while the other is marked Pouilloux.
