Early Serengeti aviator sunglasses feature a rare peach gradient lens made c 1970s by Corning Optics of New York. These are not your Serengeti sunglasses of today which are sold in the mass market; rather they reflect the high quality frame construction and Corning lenses for which early Serengetis were known. The gradient peach / orange Corning glass lenses enhance visual acuity in a variety of light conditions by using the gradient technology. The gold aviator frame is moderately oversized and suitable as men's and women's sunglasses, measuring approximately 5.5" temple to temple with teardrop shaped aviator lenses measuring approximately 2.375" x 2.0" at the widest points. These vintage Serengeti aviator sunglasses also feature outdoorsman shooter ear stems that loop around the ears for a secure fit in active conditions. The inside of one ear stem is marked Corning Optics Frame Japan while the other stem is marked 150mm. Includes original Serengeti leather case, part of a major New Orleans, LA estate collection of fine vintage eyewear.
